Privacy Policy for StyleStacker

Summary

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use advertising cookies. We use Vercel Web Analytics and a simple event log of our own to see which outfits and parts of the site people use. Neither one identifies you. If you use the AI stylist, what you submit is sent to our servers and to OpenAI so we can make the outfits. If you leave an email or Instagram handle for new finds, we keep it only to send you those finds.

How you use the site

The site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel Web Analytics records page views and the actions below. It does not use cookies and does not follow you onto other websites. We use these events to see which outfits are working. We do not sell them. Visits from the network we use to work on the site are left out of these counts, on desktop and on a phone.

• Opening a look, including which look and where on the site it was
• Following a shop link, including the brand, price, and resale site of that piece
• Changing filters, such as vibe, budget, or size
• Searching, including the words you searched, roughly how many results came back, and which result you opened
• Starting the AI stylist. This event records only which path you used: paste a link or upload a photo. It does not include the listing URL or the photo
• Rating a look with the heart (love it) or the broken heart (not for me), including the name of the look. We use those ratings to measure the quality of the outfits we show
• Choosing your style, including when the style quiz comes on screen, which outfits you would wear or pass on, which styles you tap (such as romantic or edgy), whether you finish, start over or skip, and where on the site you opened it
• How far down a page you scroll: a quarter, half, three quarters or the end
• Signing up for new finds, including whether you chose email or Instagram and where on the site you signed up. This event never includes the address or handle
• A short optional survey, shown once after you scroll or click. A “Your feedback, please!” button on the page can open it again. It asks what you would want help with, what is difficult about shopping secondhand online, how useful the site seems, and what would bring you back. We record each choice when you tap it, even if you leave before the last step. The last step can ask for an email or Instagram handle so we can follow up. If you leave one, we save it the same way as a signup for new finds, and the survey event itself does not include the address or handle

Our own event log

We record anonymous usage events on our own servers, such as which edits, looks and products are viewed or clicked, your answers in the style quiz, and how far down a page you scroll and which of its sections you reach. Each event includes item IDs, a random session ID that resets when you close the tab, campaign tags from the link you arrived through, and the referring site’s domain. When you search, we also record the words you searched and how many pieces matched, so we can see what shoppers look for and which trends to cover. We leave out any search that contains an email address, a long number or a link. We don’t record your name, email or IP address, or anything else you type.

We do not sell these events or share them with advertisers, and we do not use them to identify you. Campaign tags and the referring domain are saved with the visit, not on every later click. Like any website host, Vercel processes your IP address to deliver the site and may keep it briefly in its server logs. That address is not part of this event log. Visits from the network we use to work on the site are left out of the log. We compare the connection address to a private list to make that decision, and we do not save the address.

Saved in this browser

Your heart and broken-heart ratings are saved in this browser’s local storage so the button stays selected. That choice stays on your device. Choosing a rating also sends the analytics event described above. Whether you have already seen the survey, and the choices you have already made, are saved the same way, so it is not shown again and you can go back to finish. The address or handle you type there is not kept in this browser.

The styles you pick are saved in this browser’s local storage so we can show looks picked for you on later visits. They stay on your device until you change them or clear your browser’s data.

The random session ID for our event log is kept in this tab’s session storage and is removed when you close the tab. It is not a cookie.

When you search with a photo, the smaller copy of it and the pieces we found are kept in this tab’s session storage, so the results still show your photo if you reload. They stay on your device and are removed when you close the tab.

New finds by email or Instagram

If you choose to leave an email address or an Instagram handle for new finds, we save it on our own servers along with when you signed up, where on the site you did it, and the wording shown next to the form. If you signed up after a search, we also save that search term so we know what to look for.

We use it only to send you new finds, about once a week: by email, or as an Instagram direct message if you left your handle. We don’t sell it, share it with advertisers, or add you to anyone else’s list. To stop, reply “stop” or email admin@stylestacker.com, and we’ll stop and delete your details if you ask.

The AI stylist

The AI stylist runs only when you submit it, and search runs when you search. Our servers receive the listing URL, the photo, or the words you search. We use that to put together outfits from our catalog. The words you search are also recorded in our event log and in analytics, as described above; listing URLs and photos are not.

• Paste a link: we fetch that listing and read product details from the page, such as the name, brand, and price
• Upload a photo: we receive the image
• Search: we receive the words you type
• Search with a photo, or recreate a look from one: we receive the image, a smaller copy made in your browser. We use it only to describe the pieces in it and find similar ones. We don’t keep the photo, and we don’t record it in our event log or analytics. Analytics records only our short name for the piece we found, such as “Black knee-high boots”, how many pieces we found, and which kind of piece you open in a recreated look

To turn that into outfits or similar pieces, we send the relevant details to OpenAI. A photo is sent so the model can describe the piece. Your search, a pasted link, or details from the listing may be sent so the model can choose pieces. We send only what is needed to return the outfits.

OpenAI. That processing is subject to OpenAI’s terms and privacy policy. How long prompts or outputs may be retained is governed by those terms.

Shop links

A shop link leaves stylestacker.com and opens the listing on the resale site. StyleStacker may earn a commission when you buy through these links. The price you pay does not change. That site has its own privacy policy. We record the click as described above: the brand, the price, and the shop, and in our event log, the ID of the piece.

Cookies and tracking

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not follow you across other websites. Vercel Web Analytics and our event log do not use cookies. A browser on our own network gets one cookie, named ss_own, kept for about a year. It only means “skip analytics,” so later visits from that browser stay out of the counts. Other visitors do not get this cookie.

Email and support

If you contact us at admin@stylestacker.com, we may keep your email address and the contents of your message. We use that only to respond, unless we tell you otherwise at the time.

Changes

We may update this policy when the site changes. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top.
